Following the death of nine people due to the blast in Ether Company, a protest was held by the Congress at Collector Office. Disgruntled with the current inquiry committee, the Congressmen demanded the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge of Gujarat High Court in the investigation. All party members who were protesting and demanding were detained by the police.
