Under the banner of the I.N.D.I.A Alliance, the Vadodara City Congress Committee, Aam Aadmi Party, and Shiv Sena staged a protest against MGVCL along with the MGVCL police, alleging that prepaid smart electricity meters were being forcibly installed at the residences of electricity consumers. They also took out a rally from Race Course Circle to the new Collector's office at Diwali Pura and submitted a petition to the Collector, making strong representations. They also threatened to launch an agitation on Gandhi Marg in the coming days if smart meters were not removed and old meters reinstalled at the earliest. It is important to note that a large number of people voluntarily joined the rally.
