Commercial vehicle owners, drivers, and tempo drivers are staging protests nationwide, including in Surat. In the textile market area, drivers voiced their opposition to the recent law amendments introduced by the central government. The amended provision imposes fines of up to Rs. three lakhs and stipulates a strict 10-year imprisonment for the driver of the accident vehicle. Similar protests are occurring throughout the country.
