Amidst demonstrations against the new central government law, a protest by drivers in Surat took a violent turn. The drivers halted a city bus on Dumas-Magdalla Road and hurled stones, prompting a report to the control room. A police PCR van quickly arrived at the scene, but enraged drivers surrounded and attacked the policeman. The incident was captured on video, subsequently going viral. Dumas Police have arrested 22 drivers for obstructing government duty in connection with the attack.
