During the Uttarayan festival, the Surat Forest Department has initiated "Karuna Abhiyan" to provide emergency treatment for birds injured by kite strings. Collaborating with 19 social organizations across different areas of Surat, the campaign involves the establishment of 14 collection centers and 7 OT centers dedicated to treating injured birds. A team of 23 doctors, supported by approximately 1013 volunteers from the city, is actively participating in the bird rescue and treatment efforts.
