The menace of dog attacks is escalating in Surat, with victims seeking anti-rabies vaccines at Civil and SMIMER Hospitals. Both hospitals are recording over 100 cases daily. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Surat Civil Hospital reported 12,251 dog bites, while SMIMER Hospital documented 7,647 cases. The combined total stands at 19,898 dog bites in a year. Unfortunately, from April last year to February 2024, four individuals, including three children, succumbed to injuries caused by these attacks.
