A significant quantity of cough syrup, containing the codeine element and falling under Schedule H and Schedule G categories, was seized by the Special Operations Group (SOG) from the Bajwa area of Vadodara. The syrup, prescribed for patients with cough, was found stocked illegally. Rajesh Jayantilal Patel, the owner of the godown where the syrup was stored, possessed the necessary license, but he is now absconding after police action against his alleged illegal business. The seized syrup, valued at Rs. 66 lakhs, amounts to 44,000 bottles. Further investigations and actions are underway.
