Relief from the Pirana dumping ground for Amdavadis:
In 2019, AMC initiated the Pirana-Bio-Mining project through its Solid Waste Management Department. In March, the process of bringing in Trommel machines with a capacity to process 300 tons of waste per day began at the site. Pirana houses an 85-acre landfill, which had accumulated more than 125 lakh metric tons of waste from the city over the last four decades. Currently, 35 acres of land within this area have been cleared of waste as part of this initiative.
