In Surat, a tragic incident occurred during the immersion of Ganesh idols when a 10-foot-deep pit dug by society members claimed the life of 5-year-old Satyam. The incident happened on Friday evening when the boy drowned in the pit created for the immersion of Ganesh idols. Earlier, a call was made to the local police control room warning that if the pits were not filled in time, a child could drown. Tragically, Satyam lost his life in a matter of moments due to the uncovered pit. An FIR under IPC Section 304 has been registered against those responsible.
