Surat Traders Face SGST Raids, Uncover Tax Evasion on Beauty Products
SGST conducted raids at 20 locations in Surat, including Patel Banglas at Chauta Bazar. Shockingly, many traders were found evading taxes, particularly on beauty products. It was revealed that women were not paying the three percent tax applicable to these items. Chauta Bazaar, which predominantly houses women's shops, saw instances of tax evasion. SGST plans to scrutinize GST numbers in the future.
