In the village of Rupal, in the Gandhinagar district, the tradition of performing a lavish ghee abhishek (ritual anointment) to the goddess continues to this day. Every year, during the Navratri festival, thousands of people come together to pour hundreds of liters of ghee over the goddess's idol.
