A potential disaster was averted in Surat when a crane carrying an iron structure during metro construction at Udhna Darwaza fell on the road. The incident damaged the hood of a cloth-filled rickshaw passing by, but luckily the rickshaw driver, Raju Sahu, did not succumb to any injuries in this incident. A major accident was averted as an incoming city bus stopped at a safe distance. The crane operator fled the scene, leaving the crane and causing a temporary traffic jam.
