The state government took two important decisions to save the millets and sugarcane crops as the rainfall has reduced for the past month in South Gujarat, including Surat district. To save the sugarcane and millets crop in South Gujarat, 7000 cusecs of water from Ukai Dam will be released for irrigation through a canal. Importantly, for the first time in the last 10 years, there has been no rain in the first week of September. As a result of the government's acceptance of the demands of the farmers, there is a feeling of happiness among the farmers.
