Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik has emotionally declared her resignation from wrestling following the election of Sanjay Singh, a "loyalist" to Brij Bhushan, as the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president. Expressing disappointment over the absence of a female president, Sakshi emphasized her opposition to Brij Bhushan's influence in WFI, given the sexual harassment charges brought by six adult women wrestlers against him. In a tearful press conference, she stated, "If a person like Brij Bhushan and his close aide is elected as the president of WFI, I quit wrestling." Despite pleas to Sports Minister Anurag Thakur to prevent Brij Bhushan's associates from contesting, the election proceeded.
