The dedicated freight corridor, designed for efficient goods train transportation from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port in the western region, is making rapid progress. The track from Makarpura in Vadodara to Golwad in South Gujarat is nearing completion. Following a previous trial with a diesel engine on this route, today's successful trial involved an electric engine. The connection of the Dedicated Freight Corridor with the Indian Railways track in the Makarpura Up Line section of Vadodara is the next pending step.
