In a significant move, the Gujarat Finance Minister, Kanu Desai, has announced the elevation of 8 cities to the status of Municipal Corporation in the budget presented during the ongoing session in the Gujarat Assembly. The cities set to receive this upgraded status are Navsari, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, Anand, Mehsana, Surendranagar, and Wadwan.
