Residents of Ward 1 in Vadodara were taken aback when Surat Municipal Corporation vehicles, instead of local ones, were observed collecting garbage in areas like Bajrangnagar and Khodiyar Nagar near Chhani Canal. The contract for door-to-door garbage collection in Vadodara city has been awarded to vehicles operating in four zones. Councilor Jahan Bharwad raised concerns, alleging collusion between the contractor and the system and pointing out the use of old Surat vehicles for the door-to-door operation. This has sparked questions regarding the transparency and efficiency of the system.
