Kevda Trij/Hartalika Celebrations in the City

A day prior to Ganesh Charturthi is celebrated as ‘Kevda’ Trij or ‘Hartalika’.Today, the women fast and worship Lord Mahadev for the well being of the family and married women for their husbands as well. Many women had gathered at the Khandoba Temple in the vicinity of Khanderao Market in the city to worship together. The story of ‘Kevda Trij’ or ‘Hartalika’ is that of Goddess Parvati who prayed to marry Lord Mahadev and be his wife for the next seven lives. Hence, married women fast for the longlife and well being of their husbands.
