The village of Charakhdi in Gondal is engulfed in grief following the demise of the legendary ghazal singer and musician, Pankaj Udhas, in Mumbai. Born on May 17, 1951, in Charakhdi Kasba near Jetpur, Rajkot, Pankaj Udhas was the youngest among three musically gifted brothers. His elder siblings, Manhar Udhas and Nirmal Udhas, are also accomplished singers. Charakhdi village holds special significance as it houses the Kuldevi Mataji temple, the family's revered deity. Pankaj Udhas, known for his soulful ghazals, had a tradition of visiting Charakhdi whenever he released a new album, emphasizing the deep connection he maintained with his roots. The village now mourns the loss of a musical icon who left an indelible mark on the world of ghazals.
