Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Dandi March Day, March 12, by laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, the revered karmabhoomi Mahatma Gandhi. The ambitious project aims to transform the existing five-acre Sabarmati Ashram into a sprawling 55-acre complex, with an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore. Among the developments is the construction of the Gandhi Ashram Memorial, spanning 55 acres, incorporating the current ashram, residential quarters, and Hriday Kunj, along with plans for 13 new buildings in addition to the existing 20 structures.
