BJP has named its candidate for the Vadodara seat, a stronghold for the party.
Congress has clinched the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat merely once, from 1991 to 2024. In 1996, Congress' Satyajit Gaekwad won by a slim margin of 17 votes against BJP's Jitendra Sukhdia. However, since 1998, Vadodara has been consistently represented by BJP in Delhi. The decline of the Congress organization is evident as two former Vadodara Congress presidents have switched allegiance to BJP. Ranjanbehan Bhatt has been nominated by BJP for the Vadodara parliamentary seat for the third consecutive time, while Congress is yet to finalize its candidate.
