In a bid to address the challenge of narrow lanes hindering garbage collection, Ahmedabad has taken a cue from Vadodara's failed attempt and initiated a new plan. The municipality has floated a tender to procure 150 compact e-rickshaws tailored for navigating tight spaces. With an annual sanitation budget of 900 crores, the city seeks to enhance its waste management efficiency, aiming to alleviate the discrepancy between expenditure and survey results. Each e-rickshaw boasts a capacity to transport up to 300 kg of garbage in a single trip, promising a more agile and effective solution to urban sanitation.
