Accused in a fraud case of more than Rs 3 crore involving rented self-driving cars have been arrested by the Rajkot City Crime Branch. The accused, Akash Patel alias Akki and Bilal, were using the pretext of self-driving to rent cars from their acquaintances and others. These cars were used by them for illegal activities such as diesel theft. In addition, they had also cheated people by charging double rent for the cars and selling them to others. The value of these 50 cars is estimated to be Rs 3.60 crore. Based on a complaint, the Rajkot City Crime Branch has recovered 47 cars worth Rs 3.51 crore and arrested both the accused. Legal action is being taken against them.
