BJP councilor Kalpesh Manu Patel from Ward 18 of Vadodara city has been sentenced to one year of simple imprisonment by the court in a cheque return case. The court upheld the prosecution's arguments regarding the cheque return of sale profit related to a land investment project with a partnership's project finance consultant. As part of the sentence, Kalpesh Patel is also ordered to pay compensation of Rs. 1.43 crore to the complainant.
