In a move to address the high fatalities resulting from road accidents in India, the Ministry plans to implement a nationwide initiative offering free and cashless medical treatment to injured individuals. Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Ministry, announced this during a program, highlighting that road accidents contribute significantly to the country's mortality rate. While the provision for free medical treatment is already present in the Motor Vehicle Act and is operational in certain states, there is now a concerted effort to extend this facility across the entire nation. The Ministry of Health and Family has been urged to expedite the implementation of this comprehensive and cashless treatment system.
