Barodian Rajiv Patel along with Gandhinagar residents, Milind Damodar Nene and Niharika Abhay Joshi filed a petition before Gujarat High Court challenging the alcohol prohibition in the state. They supported their petition by arguing that the Supreme Court already provides right to privacy and it's also a constitutional right of freedom, so consumption of alcohol between four walls of the property is a private and an 'act with self' affair. Adding to that, liquor consumed in the privacy cannot harm or injure someone nor it can pose a threat to the security of society.
