Vadodara city was one of the hubs for sports to the lines of Olympics during Gaekwadi era.
Most of the Royalties during those times were fixated on promoting other sports, our Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III promoted Idian sports in a big way.
Sportsmen form across the country and even foreign countries used to come for participation for more than 150 sports which included sports like Athletics, kabaddi, long jump, hockey, wrestling, bodybuilding and kho kho during vadodara's very own Olympics called 'Royal Gaekwad Olympics' (RBGO).
