India will now have a new, all-inclusive emergency number that will help in all emergencies including police, emergency hospital services, and the fire brigade — 112. Our Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will launch this helpline today, and it has launched nationwide too. The 112 number will be commissioned using GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute’s existing infrastructure in Gir Somnath, Devbhumi Dwarka, Morbi, Chota Udepur, Botad, Aravali and Mahisagar in Gujarat. It will be gradually implemented throughout the state after spreading public awareness. To spread public awareness about this helpline, all the phone calls made to any emergency service will be automatically diverted to the new 112 helplines for the next 12 months. Now, these services will be available at 112.
