Every day in the name of development lakhs of trees are raised to the ground. While the sight does not move many, but there are few who get really moved and decide to do something. One such example is Pragnesh Panchal, a resident of Nadiad. He often travels from Nadiad to Nandesari using the national highway. He was deeply affected to see that in the name of expanding the highgway, several trees, including some very old ones were cut to make way for development. Instead of acting like a mere spectator, he ended up taking an oath that every year he will plant 108 trees. “I was furious to see that trees were felled to expand the highway. Wonder what sort of development we are heading towards? So three years back, I decided to do something and channelize my anger productively,” shares Pragnesh who works with Deepak Nitrite Limited at Nandesari facility.
