The Gujarat Government has announced a ‘CNG Sahbhaagi Yojana’ with an aim to add 300 new CNG pumps across the state that will be delivered in the next two years. Gujarat is known to have 31% of CNG stations in India. At present, the state has 542 CNG pumps, of which 330 CNG stations are owned by the government-owned companies - Gujarat Gas Ltd and Sabarmati Gas Ltd. This decision has been taken in order to gradually eradicate long lines of CNG vehicles. Along with that, it was also announced that by 2022, around 18 lakh households will be delivered with gas pipeline connections. Families with an annual income of 2 lakhs will be provided with gas connectivity in 1000 deposits. The government has taken the decision in a meeting held under the chairmanship of CM Vijay Rupani. The state government also looks forward to promote the usage of CNG as a green fuel that reduces carbon emissions.
