City’s reputed Bharatanatyam dancer, professor and former dean of MSU’s performing arts faculty, Parul Shah, had applied to study Kathak in MSU’s department of Dance. The news had surprised the city and inspired all. However, in a recent revelation, the department of dance at MSU’s performing arts faculty would not be giving admission to the 66-year-old. The department released the list of candidates who secured admission in the bachelor’s course on Tuesday, which did not include Shah’s name. Jagdish Gangani, the current HoD and one of the interview panelist, explained that the reason Shah was rejected as a candidate is because the course is career-oriented while Shah already has several feathers attached to her cap. Along with that, he claimed that her seniority may stand in the way the entire batch performed as it puts other students in pressure. More so, he stated that the course required rigorous physical training, and Shah’s age may become a hurdle to her physical fitness. The
