All criminals are jailed and punished for their crimes, but have you ever heard an animal getting life imprisonment? A leopard that attacked 5 people including two forest officials at Moti Sadhli Village in Chhota Udepur, was caged after 12 hours of struggle and will now live among other animals in a zoo. The wildcat had wandered into the village in search of food and killed a goat before attacking the villagers. The male leopard, about 16 years old, lost 2 of his canine teeth that are essential for hunting, and had also developed cataract in its right eye. It was sent to a rescue centre in Pavagadh on Monday and kept under observation of veterinary doctors. It was later learnt that the cataract developed after the leopard was captured. The forest officials said that the big cat was aged and hence will be sent to Sakkarbaug Zoo in Junagadh after its treatment, so that it can be taken care of and given proper food without having to hunt for prey.
