Arif Pathan, a young blooded soldier serving in the Indian Army since the last four years, was martyred in a heavy fire and shelling against Pakistan, along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistani troops violated ceasefire early Monday morning wherein they targeted forward posts and civilian villages, which prompted retaliation by Indian forces. Pathan was, at the time, posted along the LoC, manning the forward post. He was critically injured in the firing in the Sunderbani sector and was rushed to the military hospital where he gave in to his injuries, said the sources. Pathan resided in the Nava Yard area of Vadodara, and serving in the Indian Army has been an honour, which is passed on through generations in his family.
