Every year, Social Worker Nishita Rajput crowdsources school fees for school going girls. This year, she was able to support 10,000 girls with the total funding of Rs 1 crore. Her simple method of crowdsourcing is to accept donations strictly through cheques from the donors under the name of the school where these girls study. These donors are not limited to just people living in various states in India but are further spread among non-resident Indians in countries like United States of America and Dubai. She started this initiative by helping 151 girls in the first year. She has been doing this since last 9 years, taking ahead ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign in India wherein the aim is to maximize the scope of getting education for a girl child. Last year she was able to help 6,250 schoolgirls. In these 9 years, she has sponsored the school fees for 29,500 girls and raised a total of Rs 3 crore 25 lakh in donations for the same.
