The chair of the Collector is considered to be of the highest position of the district and getting a chance to sit on it as a gesture of respect is once in a lifetime experience. A similar experience took place in Anand when a peon was given a chance to sit on the Collector's chair. Fatehsinh Makwana, a resident of Tranol near Anand, retired on July 31, 2020, after 38 years of service. He served as a peon with about 15 collectors during his tenure. The Collector's office remains open for 15-20 hours. So the position of peon comes with a lot of responsibility too.
