A 17-year old girl, Nandini Shah from Halol was declared brain dead during treatment at Vadodara hospital. She was studying in 12th standard studying Commerce at Halol. She was shifted in critical condition to Savita Hospital. The doctors tried their best to save her but no improvement could be seen in her condition. Later, she was declared brain dead, and by her parents' wish, the hospital started the procedure to donate the organs. The heart, lungs, two kidneys, two eyes, and a liver of Nandani were donated after she was declared brain dead. City Traffic Police created a green corridor covering a distance of 6.8 km from the hospital to Harni Airport in 8 minutes for the heart and lungs to be transported to Mumbai by air. Kidneys, eyes, and liver were transported to Ahmedabad IKD hospital in less time by covering 130 kilometers by the green corridor.
