Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched a nation-wide COVID-19 vaccination drive via video-conferencing today. "Normally, it takes many years to make a vaccine but in such a short span of time, not one, but two 'Made in India' vaccines are ready. Meanwhile, the work on other vaccines is progressing at a fast pace", said PM Narendra Modi. He appealed to everyone to not make the mistake of taking off the mask and not maintaining social distance after getting the first dose because immunity will develop after the second dose. Such a vaccination drive at such a massive scale was never conducted in history. In the second phase, the numbers might be taken to 30 crores. A total of 3,00,000 healthcare workers will be vaccinated using 2 Made in India vaccines- Covaxin and Covishield. The vaccine drive is to cover all Indian States and Union Territories.
