The Central government, led by PM Modi may introduce the ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill in the special session of the Parliament, which will be called by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi from September 18 to 22. The idea of 'One Nation, One Election' essentially consists of holding simultaneous elections across the country. This means that elections for the Lok Sabha and all state assemblies across India will be held simultaneously, with voting taking place around the same time. A committee has been formed by the Central Government under the chairmanship of former President Ram Nath Kovind. The former president will examine the legislative issues with other members.
