Under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Government of Gujarat, work has been done by the government to provide water supply to the villagers in connection with the World Water Day celebrated on March 22. Sandha, a faraway village in Shinor taluka in the Vadodara district, is a successful example of the government's 'water from tap' concept of every household. Sandha village was awarded the 'Nirmal' village by then President Abdul Kalam with the President's Award in 2010 and was declared a healthy and clean village by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2012. Sarpanch of Sandha village Sujata Patel stated that 100% of the houses in this village get clean water through the tap. Earlier the women had to go far to fetch water but now every house has a clean water tap. According to the details given by Sandeep Patel, a resident of Sandha village, earlier 132 houses had tap connections which have now increased to 186 houses.
