CCTV Cameras to Combat Anti-Social Activities in Vadodara's Cafes and Restaurants The Additional District Magistrate of Vadodara district has issued an order under Section-144 of the Criminal Procedure Act-1973, requiring the installation of CCTV cameras in coffee shops, hotels, cafes, and restaurants. The order was issued due to reports of anti-social activities taking place in closed areas, such as "couple boxes," where obscene acts and the consumption of intoxicating substances were taking place. These activities often victimize young men and women and can lead to serious crimes such as death, rape, and blackmail. The order prohibits the creation of such closed spaces and requires that all seating arrangements be clearly visible. Violators of the order will be punishable under Section-188 of the Indian Penal Code, and the order will be valid until December 26, 2022.
