The medical fraternity at Vadodara's SSG hospital now has an extra edge in patient care with the inauguration of a Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL), Skill Laboratory, and a new academic building with modern teaching facilities. The facilities were inaugurated by Manoj Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary at Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, who called it a beneficial addition for students in learning advanced skills. The Skill Laboratory is the first of its kind in Government Medical College in Gujarat and follows the National Medical Council guidelines. It provides hands-on learning to medical staff for the practice of clinical skills necessary for safe patient management. The lab uses flexible manikins to provide training in airway, basic and advanced life support, obstetrics, pediatrics procedures, nursing, and trauma procedures.
