As one strolls through the char darwaazas, one would witness many settlements in the tiny lanes, these are known as pols.
Each pol houses a group of people generally belonging to the same community and practicing a similar profession. The name of pols is derived from the occupation, caste, renowned person, thing, specie of a tree or animal that reside or has history with that lane.
